One might think that looking at Pogo 'another average black dog' and I might say look into those eyes!
When I meet Pogo for the first time he is a little unfocused and all over the place. He wasn’t at all shy about throwing himself at me with gusto. What a happy boy he is, his tail whirling like a helicopter in his eagerness to get outside and explore. Though Pogo is strong on the lead and will need a little training there, he slows down his pace and settles next to me as I offer some comfort. His eyes are bright, trusting and full of expectation. He has a big smile on his face. Pogo is a delight. His tail wags as we walk, he checks up frequently to make sure we are good (and we sure are!), he sits on command, and takes treats gently.
As I pick up a ball, Pogo’s eyes light up and then he looks at me with a goofy expression. It squeaks?
He sits, his feet tapping the ground in excitement. He is ready to play! He runs, catches the ball, he teases the ball with his two front paws and belly crawls forward until he reaches the very spot where I stand. I so enjoy my time with him.

I’m told by one of the staff that Pogo is house trained and is very good for his vet visits. Indeed many of the staff and volunteers love his affectionate nature and he has charmed many fans out there. He’s only about one year young and he’s already spent enough of his life at the shelter. And when the best looking boys are also nice boys, that’s a bonus in my world.

Pogo knows some commands like sit and down and paw. He soon got the hang of stay during his photo session too. Although he loves to play he also gives the best stand up hugs and nudges his head into my arms. And because he likes to play when he’s excited, a family with older children would be best.

This lovely boy means happiness. And this is what he will bring into your life if you take him home as your forever best friend. A sweet guy with a big heart.
